The baby sitter just sent this picture to my phone:
It's official, I think that we have a crawler...

8 Months

Ok, so the 1st picture is not so great...but I couldn't not post it...the feet crack me up. She rubs her feet together all the time...sometimes we refer to her as "Cricket feet" I can't believe that she is 8 months old...we are RAPIDLY approaching the her 1st birthday which I have already begun planning. This month, Rory has become quite the chatter box. She says "Ma-Ma" "Da-Da" "Ummm...Yumm" when you feed her lunch, and my personal favorite.."Uh Uh Uh Ohh" HOLY COW it is cute! She also tried to bark at the dogs when she sees them...it is more of a grunt...but it is funny!

Playtime on the palate.

Rory and I have been participating in a lot of playtime in the floor lately. For your photographic enjoyment, a look at all the types of floor play that we have been enjoying.

  1. "Mommy got tired of putting my PJ pants back on after the 3rd diaper change in an hour" Even pantsless---she is cute. Check out the bed head.
2. "Look at the pretty baby in the mirror play time" She LOVES this book, well actually she loves ALL books, but this one has a mirror on the last page and she gets a kick out of looking at herself. 3. "Mmmm, this wooden puzzle tastes good" playtime. I got her the 3 piece wooden puzzle the other weekend and she really likes it. She tends to gravitate to the crab piece, I think because it is red. Well that is it for now. Have a great week!

10 on Tuesday

I haven't done a 10 on Tuesday in a while so I thought that I would give it a shot.

  1. It is already August. I can hardly believe it! This summer has gone really fast.
  2. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was good. Although it felt like a lot of set up and not a lot of action (except the end), it was good. I guess all the setting up is a necessity since the last book (2 movies) are so involved. I remember the book being the same way.
  3. HPATHBP was a "Date Night" for Kevin and I. We enjoyed dinner and a movie, although we really did miss Rory. We needed to get out just the 2 of us and reconnect...I think that it was good for both of us!
  4. I miss my Dad a lot. For some reason lately it has been really hard for me. I think partially because Rory is getting big and doing all kinds of cute things and it is hard for me to remember that he is not here to enjoy her. It just makes me sad I guess.
  5. The twins start high school this year. They had band camp last week and boy-o-boy talking to them about it brought back memories. It is hard to believe that I went through band camp over 10 years ago...holy cow...really...10 years? It doesn't seem possible.
  6. All this universal health care stuff is making my head spin. I AM for health care reform...I am NOT for government provided health care. I think that we should let the free market system work. Wasn't it basic 8th grade economics that says that competition is the motivating factor for affordability and quality. Better Health care=YES!, Communist Health care=NO!!!!!!
  7. Someone's birthday is coming up at the end of this month. I can't believe that she is going to be 11. I remember like it was yesterday when she was born. The big 1-1....it is all downhill from here Brit! Just kidding...hehe!
  8. Wow, 10 is harder than I thought that it would be!
  9. Is it too early to start thinking about Christmas gifts? Don't read that wrong...I am not ready to decorate or actually do the shopping portion, but I have already started thinking about gifts for people...is that bad?
  10. I forgot my lunch today...bummer. I have a lot of errands to do on my lunch break today so the chances of me having time to pick up something are slim to none. Oh well...it isn't like I am wasting away or anything...I am afford to skip a meal or 2 or 20.

The Wedding

Kevin's boss's oldest daughter got married earlier this month. Kevin, Rory and I attended and had a great time. Here are some pics from the festivities.

  • Jill and Michael after the "hitchin'" Michael grabbed her hand and literally ran up the aisle.
  • The cute red head on the left there is Jill's sister and our FABULOUS babysitter. She and Rory are a wild pair!
  • The bouquet toss. Man am I glad that I don't have to participate in that anymore! It is dangerous I tell ya!
  • Searching for the garter.
  • Father of the bride. Greg is such a sweet heart....I mean, Greg is such a tough guy...yeah, that is what I meant!
  • These are out of order but this is more bouquet madness!
  • Leaving for the honeymoon.
  • Our sitter, S (and Rory), saying good bye to the Bride and Groom
  • The dress that Rory is wearing is my first Easter dress. She looked so cute in it.
  • Rory and I waiting for the reception to start. Rory was not impressed with the picture taking. A lot of people were taking pics of her and she thought it was sort of weird.
  • I have a very similar picture of my Dad holding me this way on my 1st Easter. I will have to try to remember to scan it in and post it too.
Weddings make Rory tired. She was all partied out!

Mommy's Little Helper

On the days that Kevin works, Rory sits in her highchair in the kitchen while I make us dinner. She is a big help, as you can tell! (excuse the dried food on the highchair behind her, she made a mess with her dinner and I hadn't cleaned the highchair off yet--I promise she doesn't sit in a filthy highchair all the time.)

"Mommy, I don't know what you are doing, but I am trying to play with my blocks, so could you knock it off with the picture taking so that I can play?"
  • We are doing pretty well. I can't believe that the summer is almost over already! Before we know it, it will be December and Rory will be turning ONE! (I don't want to think about it)
  • It is FINALLY slowing down here at work...at least enough that I feel like I can at least keep pace with the day to day work load. I will take keeping pace over falling miserably behind any day!

PS: Scroll down 2 posts and check out her (severly late) 7 month post.

QUICK

Many of you might already be familiar with Stellan and McKmama but if you read this, please pray for Stellan. He is not doing well! HERE is a link to his family's website. "His huge outstretched arms protect [Stellan] - under them you are perfectly safe; his arms fend off all harm. -Psalms 91:4"

FINALLY!

Ok, so Rory is 7.5 months old already and I am just now posting her 7 months pictures. Oh well. I couldn't find the cord to download the pictures for a while. I am planning to post some more pics this week. Anyway, this is the official 7 month post. Rory got her 1st tooth on her 7 month birthday. This weekend another one started peeking through. It is official, we are living with a snaggle tooth. No complaints here though!

An update is coming soon I promise. I have the pics for Rory's 7 month post (still in the camera). We have just been super busy. I will try to update tonight or tomorrow. Stick with me here! On a side note, Good Luck Dixons! Can't wait to see Miss Kate.

Sweet Baby.

Sorry for the lack of pics. I had some really cute pics from the zoo last Friday, but someone stole my little point and shoot camera out of the diaper bag so I am short a camera. I know, how crappy is that? Anyway, I couldn't resist taking some pictures of Rory in her bed tonight. There is nothing better than a sweet sleeping baby. She is so sweet and cuddlie.
