I want you to know

I started this list a while ago, and on the eve of Thanksgiving, I thought now was an appropriate time to post it.  I have thought a lot about what I want to teach Rory and what I want her to know, so I started making a list.  This sort of thing, comes with the parent territory I think.  It is a difficult balance of being over protective, and sheltering her too much, and being protective enough, only letting her test her wings enough for the lesson.

I want you to know:

  • You were loved before you were even a thought
  • What it feels like to get your heart broken
  • What it feels like to find that perfect someone
  • Not everyone is your friend
  • How to be a best friend to someone else
  • No matter how hard you try, you can’t please everyone
  • If someone is truly your friend, they won’t abandon you for someone or something else
  • There is no substitute for hard work
  • You should never be afraid to love someone
  • How to stand up for yourself and not be a door mat
  • Where you come from and where you are going
  • ‘Smart’ is something that you have to work hard to be
  • What it feels like to struggle to accomplish something and how it feels to finally complete your task
  • That that little voice inside of you shouldn’t be ignored.
  • Never outsmart your own common sense
  • God loves you, even more than Daddy and I do
  • You are worth it
  • You can do anything that you put your mind to
  • Life isn’t easy, but it is worth living
  • How to pray with out ceasing
  • When you hit the bottom, hit your knees and look up
  • It is OK to ask for help
  • You are your own worst critic
  • It doesn’t matter what anyone says behind your back
  • Never neglect your friends and family for some guy
  • Live your life with integrity
  • There are people out there who do not have your best interest at heart.
  • Never be afraid to rid your life of toxic relationships, toxic situations, toxic attitudes and toxic people
  • Abuse doesn’t have to be physical
  • How difficult it is to see a good friend in a bad situation
  • The only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ
  • God created you with 2 ears and 1 mouth so that you will listen twice as much as you talk
  • It is OK to cry
  • Daddy and I will always be there for you
  • To put in the hard work now, to reap the rewards later
  • The feeling of waking up at 3:00am and peeking under the Christmas tree to see what Santa brought you and then going back and laying in the bed so excited, that you can’t fall back asleep
  • How to love someone or something enough to let it go
  • What it feels like to be overwhelmed with happiness
  • The weight of a college degree in your hand, a result of endless nights and days of hard work
  • How to change your own tire, even in 2" heels
  • You are my greatest accomplishment.

Calling all former Band Geeks!

Ok, so Sarah Grace and Victoria are selling fruit again this year for band.  You can purchase online HERE you just need to pick your fruit and then choose the student.  Both girls are listed in the drop down, it doesn't matter which one, just pick one.  Orders have to be turned in on October 1, so get your order ready.  When the fruit comes in, I can either bring it to you, or if you are in the Decatur area, you can get it from them directly!

Any help would be much appreciated.  I remember dreading selling my 25 boxes, God bless Kitty, she has to somehow move 50.  PLEASE help them out!

Thanks guys...and...GOOOO BEARS!

You know you are a Mom when & Out of the Mouths of Mom's

I thought that this might be fun!  Feel free to add more in the comments.  I recorded the first 10 that came to my head, but I am sure you all have plenty others.

  1. You open your purse to retrieve your check card and find an apple juice box.
  2. You reach in to grab your wallet and a pacie finds it's way into your hand.
  3. There is an extra box of wipes under the back seat of your car "Just in case"
  4. The thought of snot and poop doesn't scare you anymore.
  5. You got into bed at 10:30p and are proud of yourself because you got into be "early"
  6. You let your toddler walk around the house in 2 different shoes because it is "keeping her quiet"
  7. You actually think to yourself, as you potty alone, "Wow, it is kinda boring in here when I don't have to try to keep the baby out of everything."
  8. You refer to the bathroom as a "potty" even asking your husband "do you need to potty before we leave?"  Sorry honey!
  9. You  have ever rearranged furniture in the living room, knowing that it won't stop the toddler from getting into trouble, but might slow her down enough that your tired self might get an extra second or 2 to catch  her.
  10. You are getting ready to leave the house with Hubby and Crazy toddler when you realize that you have gotten everyone ready and they look refreshed and put together however, you still have  your pajamas on and haven't even thought about getting yourself ready.
Also, in the past 24 hours, these are some of the things that have come out of my mouth:
  1. "Rory please stop licking the wall"
  2. "I don't think Nellie likes it when  you put your finger in her nose"
  3. "Oh, thank you for picking your nose and wiping it on my bare leg, next time lets put our boogers in a Kleenex"
  4. "Please stop touching your hiney, I can't get your diaper on with your hands down there"
  5. "Lets keep the Polynesian Sauce on our chicken and not use it as hair gel"
  6. "No Ma'am, we do not poke our fingers in people's eyes"
  7. "No Ma'am, we do not poke our fingers in the dogs' eyes"
  8. "Ruby doesn't like it when you hit her in the head with your juice cup"
  9. "Rory why is your croc in the potty?"
  10. "Rory where is your diaper?"
Hope everyone is having a good week!
